A Stay at Fairmont Seoul: Suite Life, Room Service & Maternity Diaries

There's a specific kind of quiet that only exists in a well-run hotel room, the kind where even the light seems to have been considered. I spent time at Fairmont Seoul recently, partly for work, and partly for something more personal: a maternity shoot, shot in the same soft morning light I usually save for someone else's brand.

If you only remember one thing about staying at Fairmont Seoul, let it be the breakfast. Room service arrived warm, unhurried, plated like it mattered. Granola with fruit, soft-scrambled eggs, bacon crisped just right, toast in a linen-lined basket. I ended up shooting this more like a still life than a meal, which tells you something about how it looked.

Room Service After Dark (Yes, It's 24 Hours)

The version of luxury I actually care about isn't the lobby chandelier. it's being able to order a proper burger and fries at midnight without leaving your room, and have it arrive exactly as good as it would in the restaurant downstairs. Fairmont Seoul's 24-hour room service held up completely. We ordered late, twice, and both times the food came out plated with the same care as breakfast; smash burgers, crispy fries in their own little jar, the city lit up gold and blue just outside the window.

The Small Things (Amenities Worth Mentioning)

The details are where a hotel either earns its five stars or doesn't. Fairmont Seoul's amenities were genuinely well-considered: a proper robe (heavy, not the flimsy kind), monogrammed slippers, a thoughtfully stocked minibar, and toiletries that didn't feel like an afterthought. Small things, but they add up to the overall feeling of being taken care of.

The Part That Wasn't in the Brief

I didn't originally plan to include a maternity shoot in this series, but the light in that suite was too good to waste, and I'm into a new chapter of my own life that felt worth documenting too, even if just for ourselves. So somewhere between shooting breakfast trays and city views, I turned the camera around for a bit.

Final Thoughts

Fairmont Seoul isn't trying to be flashy, it's trying to be considered, and mostly, it succeeds. As someone who photographs hotels for a living, what stayed with me wasn't any single grand gesture, but the accumulation of small, correct decisions: the linen, the light, the food arriving exactly when it should. Worth the stay, and worth the shoot.

Fairmont Ambassador Seoul

Fairmont Ambassador Seoul is a five-star, eco-certified property connected to a shopping center, steps from The Hyundai Seoul, and close to Yeouido Hangang Park and Hongik University. The hotel has 308 rooms, and the building itself was built in 2020.

On the food side, the on-site restaurant, Spectrum, offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and every room comes with genuine 24-hour room service which, if you've read the rest of this post, you already know holds up even at midnight. For wellness, the hotel has a full-service spa offering facials, aromatherapy, and massage, plus an indoor pool and bike rentals for exploring the riverside park nearby.

In terms of sustainability, the property participates in Green Key, a certification measuring a hotel's environmental, community, and cultural impact, and rooms are outfitted with LED lighting and eco-friendly cleaning products. In-room details include rainfall showers, separate baths and showers, and bidets, along with 55-inch LED TVs with premium channels. Bath amenities are by Le Labo, and rooms are equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine. Staff at the property speak Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, and Korean.
